CLASSIC MX-5 TURBO RE-LAUNCHED

mx5Celebrating the 1990 launch of the original MX-5 BBR Turbo, BBR has announced a 20th Anniversary turbo conversion package for the MX-5 model range, covering Mk I and Mk II versions of the world’s most popular sports car – in both 1.6- and 1.8-litre guises.

Priced at £4995 (or £3995 if supplied as a DIY kit), the BBR 20th Anniversary Phase One Turbo package comprises a Garrett GT25 turbocharger, high-temperature alloy cast exhaust manifold with ceramic coating and stainless steel heat shield, front-mounted air-to-air intercooler and associated pipe work, competition-standard hoses and fixings, auxiliary BBR Interceptor engine management, larger fuel injectors, a new cool air induction system and much more. The end result for a 1.6-litre MX-5 Mk I is a dyno-proven new power output of 221bhp at 6900rpm, with 175lb.ft. of torque at 5100rpm.
