“Our 20th birthday coincided with some terrific local press coverage, as we’ve just sold a Rolls-Royce Silver Dawn that was once owned by George Formby,” James told Classic Car Mart. “As soon as news of that got out, we were inundated with press enquires, and even had the local TV news crew filming here. It’s been a great way to celebrate the last 20 years.” Grundy Mack was originally founded in 1991 by James’s father and uncle, Nick and Paul Szkiler. And Nick is particularly proud of what’s been achieved: “We began trading at the height of the last recession, and we’ve been busy trading through another. Now James, once the little eight-year-old, wide-eyed with awe at some of our cars, is in the driving seat of the business himself – and in many ways is better at it than his Dad!” Now known as the Classic & Sports Car Centre, the company enjoys a loyal following and usually has an impressive array of different models available.
