| TEAM LOTUS ACQUIRES CATERHAM |

The acquisition by Tony Fernandes, Kamarudin Meranun and SM Nasarudin – the three names behind Team Lotus Formula 1 – will see Caterham expanding its product range in the future. But the company will be run by its existing management team, headed up by managing director Ansar Ali, the man behind Caterham’s recent export expansion and the launch of the Superlight R500. Tony Fernandes told journalists he will ensure Caterham’s evolution via new products, increased distribution and exposure to new markets, while protecting Caterham’s heritage. Caterham has been producing the Seven since acquiring all rights to the model from Lotus Cars in 1972, with next year marking the 40th anniversary of Caterham Cars. The Seven was originally launched by Lotus in 1957. |

Caterham Cars – one of the UK’s most successful specialist manufacturers – has found a new owner, following a takeover by the Team Lotus Formula 1 concern. And to celebrate the purchase, a limited-edition version of the long-lived Caterham Seven has been announced – with just 25 of the Team Lotus-liveried cars being sold worldwide.
