CLASSIC RESCUE
Thursday, 12 May 2011 00:00

JuneNewsRescueResearch carried out by classic insurance specialist Footman James suggests that many classic vehicle owners are ‘gambling with their safety’ by not making sure their insurance policies cover them in the event of a breakdown.

According to a recent survey by the company, only seven per cent of those interviewed said EU breakdown cover was at the top of their touring check list, while 29 per cent couldn’t leave home without their phone. Eighteen per cent said tools were their top priority.

The survey also revealed that 17 per cent of enthusiasts questioned admitted they didn’t have any breakdown cover at all, while another three per cent weren’t sure if they were covered or not.

The survey of nearly 5500 classic vehicle owners was conducted via an online survey and at last year’s NEC Classic Motor Show. Footman James’  Paul Matthews said: “As many classic vehicles will have been in hibernation prior to the touring season, it becomes increasingly important that owners have the right levels of breakdown cover.”
