OH DEAR…
Friday, 10 June 2011 09:06

NewsRecreationIt’s 75 years since the iconic BMW 328 was launched, an anniversary that the German maker considers worth celebrating. And, of course, we wouldn’t argue with that… as long as the celebration didn’t include the debut of a one-off modern-day version known as the 328 Hommage.

The original Mille Miglia-winning 328 is now considered one of the most sought after classics in the world, with fewer than 200 of the 464 examples built thought to have survived. It’s surely one of the most revered racing cars of all time, as famed for its beauty as for its achievements in motor sport.

And now there’s the 328 Hommage, a car that BMW says ‘translates the principles and the character of the vehicle of that time into present times’. What it also does, as far as we’re concerned, is replace the beauty NewsBMWextraof the original with a disastrous looking modern-day equivalent. We can only be grateful that the 328 Hommage isn’t destined for production.

Of course, if you disagree and think this is a fitting tribute to an all-time great, drop us a line and let us know…
