MAGNETTE MAKES A COMEBACK
Thursday, 07 July 2011 00:00

CCMnewsMagnetteHot on the heels of the MG6 hatchback which went on sale in the UK in May comes this new saloon version. And to make sure there’s a link with MG saloons of the past, the Chinese-owned firm has called it the MG6 Magnette.

The Magnette goes on sale in July, priced from £15,995 and featuring the same 1.8-litre turbocharged petrol engine as the current MG6 hatchback. Best-selling of all the previous Magnettes was the ZA/ZB series of 1953-58, with 36,600 produced at Abingdon before being replaced by the ‘Farina’ Magnette in 1959. The latest MG6 Magnette has its final assembly carried out at MG Motor UK’s Longbridge plant – now known as MG Birmingham.
