Angus Forsyth, managing director of Hagerty International, commented: “Collectable cars have proven a smart way to ride out the vicissitudes of the money markets, and this list serves as a guide to some of the best buys on the market today, whether you have £5,000 or £100,000 to spend.” In the £5k-£15k category, Hagerty’s recommended list comprises the Morris Minor, Austin-Healey ‘Frogeye’ Sprite, MGB and any 1960s Mini Cooper. Those with between £15k and £25k to spend, however, are urged to look towards the Jaguar Mk2, Morgan Plus 4 (1954-68), Triumph TR6 and Ford Mustang (1969-76). So what do CCM readers think of those particular classic choices? As ever, we’d value your opinions – as well as your suggestions for the best investments on today’s classic car scene. Classic vehicle insurance provider Hagerty International has been busy collating a list of recommended models for first-time buyers, a project that it calls its ‘Best Classic Cars for Every Bank Account’. And with a keen eye on investment potential, the company’s main priority has been choosing models that it thinks will continue to increase in value in the years ahead – as well as being practical, accessible and straightforward to own.
