Developed in the 1930s, most of the 250 Deux Chevaux prototypes built were destroyed before WWII – apart from three that were hidden by Citroen to prevent them falling into enemy hands, and a fourth that was stashed away by Michelin. All four were expected to make an appearance at this bi-annual Deux Chevaux extravaganza. |

As this issue of CCM went to press, a record-breaking gathering of Citroën 2CVs was about to take place at the 19th International ‘Amis de la 2CV’ event in France. And among the 6000 2CVs expected to take part were all surviving examples of the original pre-war prototypes.
