NEW JENSEN INTERCEPTOR
Friday, 28 October 2011 00:00

DecNewsInterceptorJust as last month’s issue of CCM went to print, featuring news of British firm CPP’s intention to start building cars again at Coventry’s historic Browns Lane site, the same company announced plans to build an all-new Jensen Interceptor at the plant.

Scheduled for launch in 2014, the new-look Interceptor draws obvious styling influences from the legendary classic of the same name and will be engineered, developed and built at Browns Lane by CPP Global Holdings. The deal was struck between CPP and the owner of the Jensen brand, Healey Sports Cars Switzerland Ltd (HSCS).

A team of Coventry-based consultants employed by HSCS has completed the design of the new Interceptor, which the company claims has ‘already gained significant customer interest’.

The Interceptor will be based on an all-new aluminium chassis and hand-built aluminium body. There’s no word yet on the choice of powerplant, though fans of the old Interceptor will no doubt expect an American-sourced V8 to ensure some kind of authenticity.

The public unveiling of the Interceptor is planned for late 2012, with deliveries to customers expected to begin in 2014.  Annual production numbers and pricing are yet to be confirmed – but with CPP already talking about ‘ultra-exclusivity’, customers should prepare themselves for a six-figure price tag. Expressions of interest can be registered online at www.jensensportscars.com.

So what do you think of the look of the new Jensen Interceptor – and are you pleased to see plans for a Jensen re-launch and an all-new model?
