As the founder of Carrozzeria Scaglietti in 1951, Sergio was based across the road from Ferrari – and it wasn’t long before a firm friendship was formed between him and Enzo Ferrari. From the mid-1950s, many sports racing prototypes were designed and manufactured at Carrozzeria Scaglietti, each of them exclusively designed by Scaglietti himself and bearing the ‘Scaglietti & C’ badge. Ferrari Chairman Luca di Montezemolo commented: “Sergio Scaglietti leaves behind the legacy of an artist who, with his talent, created some of the most beautiful cars of our history.” |

Sergio Scaglietti, the legendary Ferrari coachbuilder who created some of the company’s most famous models – including the Ferrari California, 250 Testa Rossa, 250 GTO and 750 Monza – died on November 20, at the age of 91.
