AUCTION SALES SUCCESS

auction_newsThe latest Richard Edmonds classic car auction took place at the Castle Combe circuit at the end of October – and achieved a record 94 per cent sale rate, with a total of £557,000 spent (before commission) on the cars, motorbikes and automobilia on offer.

The Wiltshire-based sale largely comprised the collection of the late Phil Lomax, a local man well known for his love of all things mechanical. He was an avid collector, and his 16 cars and 30 ’bikes were all in the auction – pick of the bunch being a 1955 Aston Martin DB2/4 that went £18k over estimate, selling for an impressive £58,000. Also included were three examples of the Morgan three-wheeler from the 1930s, the most sought after being a superb 1934 model that achieved £33,000. Phone bidding came from all over the world, with a 1905 Renault AX attracting particular attention and going on to sell for £24,000 – against a top estimate of £15,000.
