The first Fiat Panda went on sale in 1980, hailed as the new decade’s answer to the Citroen 2CV thanks to its utilitarian design, flat glass and no-nonsense spec. UK imports ceased 15 years ago, although the old-shape Panda remained on sale in Italy until 2003 – making it one of the longest lived cars of its generation. |

Celebrating 30 years of the Fiat Panda, the Fiat Motor Club held a ‘Panda party’ at the Coventry Transport Museum in October, with a good assortment of original-shape Pandas being joined by various other classics Fiats – including 500s, an 850, a 127 and a Fiat Coupe.
