Whether you’re looking to improve your classic’s security or the longevity of its battery, here’s a product which has been around for a while now and promises to do both (and it costs less than a tenner!).

This simple device – the Dis-car-nect – fits to any type of battery post, including the Ford ‘square’ type. Once installed, the owner can disconnect the car’s ignition circuit (and immobilise it) simply by undoing a plastic knob.

Cleverly though, a small fused link is included to allow low-current electrics such as clocks, radios and alarms to still function. The fuse however can’t handle ignition duties, ‘blowing’ harmlessly should somebody try to start the vehicle.

We reckon that it could be the perfect addition for laid-up cars. Interested?
