ACE READ
Friday, 10 June 2011 09:34

ProdAceThose who spent their teenage years during the Fifties and Sixties in north London will not doubt fondly remember the Ace Cafe – an open-all-hours haven for everyone from bikers to truckers.

In this 300-plus pages hardback, Mick Duckworth chronicles the life and times of the Ace, from its opening in 1938 and its closure in 1969 to its grand reopening back in 2001.

Although a firm favourite with classic car fans today (there are several marque-specific meets there every month), back in the day the Ace was very much for motorcycle fanatics, so there’s a focus on all things two wheels rather than four. Nonetheless, it’s still a very interesting read, documenting some of the Ace’s characters, their lifestyles and, of course, the music that provided the soundtrack to their lives.

The Ace Times hardback is priced £29.95
