Regular readers will recognise the name John Clancy as we’ve reviewed a number of his DVD documentaries before, but they’ll also raise an eyebrow as until now he’s worked almost exclusively within the Triumph marque. This project is not only different because he’s covering the story of the Mini Cooper, but it’s also easily his most ambitious project to date. And it’s fantastic.

Viewers can expect over three hours of footage, which includes interviews with the people who were (and still are) most closely associated with the success of both the original Cooper and its modern BMW equivalent. There’s also plenty of stock footage, much of which has never been seen before according to John, who’s been afforded access to the personal archives of some of the most prominent members of the former BMC ‘Works’ team.

The greatest compliment we can give this DVD set is that if you don’t own a Mini already, then by the end of the production there’s a strong chance you’ll want to go out and buy yourself one!
